Here, the environment is not static. Each tree has its own activation zone. As soon as you step on it, it will immediately retaliate in various ways: punching, shooting, pushing, or activating traps.
The character has distinct inertia. You can't stop instantly, which makes dodging traps much harder. One misstep is enough to cost you dearly.
The game builds its experience on continuous failure. Each death helps you remember the exact trap location, allowing you to progress a little further in the next playthrough.
